Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, wrapped up her annual summer campaign week in the rain at the weekend, after carrying doorstep calls and pop-up surgeries around the Chipping Barnet constituency.
Speaking from a washed-out event next to the A1000 in New Barnet, Theresa said “It’s been great to be out talking to so many constituents over these past few days. I keep up my programme of doorstep calls and street surgeries throughout the year but the Parliamentary summer recess gives me time to step up this engagement with my constituents.”
“This year’s campaign week has included streets in Dollis Valley, Barnet Vale, New Barnet, East Barnet, Totteridge, Whetstone, High Barnet, Arkley, and Underhill.”
“I’ve had a chance to discuss crucial issues with constituents including the expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone. Many people told me of their opposition to this plan by the Mayor of London.”
“Concerns about the cost of living and mortgage rates were also raised with me. The Government is determined to get inflation down to take the pressure off interest rates and the cost of living. This will continue to be one of my top priorities.”
“It was a shame that my final street surgery on Saturday was cut short by heavy rain but we managed to dodge the showers earlier in the week. Many thanks to my team of volunteer helpers who came out on the doorsteps with me. And thank you to all constituents who took the time to speak to me and tell me their views. It seems that many constituents are still fed up about potholes!”
Theresa’s campaign week 2023 ran from Monday 31st July to Saturday 5th August.
