Chipping Barnet MP Theresa Villiers donned a high-vis jacket and joined volunteers on Saturday to help litter pick in High Barnet.
The event was organised by a local group, Green Beings High Barnet, and focused on areas around the Barnet High Street and High Barnet tube station. Theresa had a go at clearing rubbish from the area at the side of the A1000/Barnet Hill next to the station.
“Many thanks for all the volunteers from this dedicated group for going out to clean up the area,” said Theresa.
“It was a pleasure to join in and do my bit. I feel strongly about the need to combat litter, and it was great to meet like-minded people who are prepared to get stuck in and help our community."
“I have asked Transport for London many times to clean the land by the tube station, but they never do. However, the Green Beings team did a fantastic job, and this part of my constituency looks much better.”
This initiative was part of Keep Britain Tidy’s #GBSpringClean campaign. This runs from 22nd March to 24th April and encourages people to get involved in volunteer litter-picking. Theresa is backing the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.
