Theresa Villiers, Member of Parliament for Chipping Barnet, visited the North Finchley Mosque on Sunday as part of “#VisitMyMosque” weekend. Theresa was joined at the mosque located at 685 High Road Barnet, by local council Conservative candidates, Cllr Anne-Marie Pearce, Roberto Weeden-Sanz, Pavan Pavanakumar, Julian Teare and Felix Byers. Other guests at the event included Rabbi Hackenbroch from Woodside Park Synagogue.
Theresa said “It has been great to visit the North Finchley Mosque as part of the Visit My Mosque day. I enjoyed chatting to constituents who worship at the mosque and also meeting the Imam and members of the management committee. By opening up their place of worship to friends and neighbours in the wider community, the Islamic Association of North London is playing a valuable role in promoting community cohesion and mutual understanding between different faiths.”
Barnet is a diverse and multi-ethnic borough and events like this one are a great illustration of the strength of inter-faith harmony and dialogue. I would like to thank Iman Oussama and everyone at the North Finchley Mosque who made us feel so welcome.”
North Finchley Mosque is run by the Islamic Association of North London. It was one of over 200 mosques across the UK opened their doors to neighbours of all faiths and none on 18 February as part of Visit My Mosque day. This popular and successful initiative is now in its fourth consecutive year.
