I would like to send my best wishes to all my constituents for a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah and a successful and prosperous New Year.
Can I thank all those of you who will be working during the Christmas season to keep our health and emergency services going? I am sure that anyone who is unlucky enough to be in hospital over the festive season will hugely value the commitment and dedication of NHS staff. We owe them all a great debt of gratitude. We should also take this opportunity to think of the brave men and women of our armed forces posted overseas away from their families at Christmas.
2016 has certainly been a dramatic year. The decision this country made in the referendum in June was a momentous one. I campaigned to leave, and I believe we can look forward to a bright future outside the EU. But an important priority now is to try to bridge the divisions that the referendum revealed and work together with both leave and remain supporters as we prepare to leave the EU and shape a new relationship with our European neighbours.
Looking ahead to 2017, I shall continue to campaign enthusiastically in Barnet and in Parliament to highlight the issues that matter to my constituents.
Regards,
Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP
Member of Parliament for Chipping Barnet
