Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, today visited London Greek Radio at their studios in North Finchley N12.
She met with LGR chairman, John Kyriakides and managing director, Akis Eracleous. After a discussion about various matters of concern to LGR, Theresa was then interviewed by journalist, Panos Charalambous, for broadcast on the station next week.
Following the visit, Theresa said "It is always a great pleasure to visit London Greek Radio and hear the views of journalists and management about important issues for LRG listeners. I have been doing regular interviews with LGR for nearly 15 years and I very much welcome the opportunity to broadcast on such a popular and successful radio station."
"The radio sector has had a tough time over recent years, like much of the economy, with intense competition for advertising. LGR has been impacted by tough economic times both in the UK and Cyprus. I pay tribute to the work they have done to continue to provide a great service for listeners from the Greek and Greek Cypriot community in London, despite the difficult economic climate."
"I enjoyed taking part in the interview with Panos Charalambous. We covered a range of topics, starting with the visit to President Anastasiades to London earlier in the month. The visit was a great success and it was good to have the opportunity to talk about that. I particularly welcome the agreement on property development within the sovereign bases. The communique agreed between the President and David Cameron also provided a welcome confirmation of the UK government's support for the efforts of Cypriots to find a just, lasting and balanced solution to reunite Cyprus."
"We also discussed Famagusta and the proposals by President Anastasiades for the return of the town to its rightful owners and residents as part of confidence building measures."
"I hope to be talking to LGR again very soon as an excellent way to keep in touch with my British Cypriot constituents."
