On hearing the news Theresa said: “Along with Friends of Barnet Market, I have been campaigning for improvements to the market for years. The current state of the St Albans Road site makes life very difficult for market traders and their customers, particularly the uneven surface. The increasingly dilapidated appearance of the market and the surrounding hoardings have been preventing the traders from attracting customers.”
“I am delighted that the long awaited improvement plan is finally underway. I pay tribute to the work done by FoBM who have campaigned with such determination for these improvements to go ahead. I also warmly welcome the progress made on this by the owners, William Pears, after such a long period of inactivity under the previous owners.”
“I hope that this vital work will go some way to boosting the High Street and helping our historic market become the vibrant hub it used to be, attracting visitors from the neighbouring areas.”“I understand that work is due to be finished in November, and I hope that things run smoothly to allow this project to be finished on time. It is important that the residents of High Barnet can enjoy their revived market as soon as possible.”
