After visiting East Barnet Baptist Church, Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has paid tribute to their Building Friendship initiative. This is a drop-in service which takes place every Friday morning at the church in Crescent Road, East Barnet, from 10 am to 12 noon. It is run entirely by volunteers and offers support to those with mental health problems.
Theresa Villiers said “I am hugely impressed by the dedication of people like Janice Hembrow who have made this project possible. Janice and others from the East Barnet Baptist Church decided that they wanted to reach out to people with mental health problems. So they started this weekly drop-in to provide help and support to this vulnerable group.”
“It has been great meeting the volunteers who make this initiative possible and the people who are receiving support and friendship through this great project. It is clearly very successful and I wish it well in the future.”
