In the new plans, L&Q have removed one block of three storey high flats and reduced the number of houses. However, in their place, an extra storey has been added to other three and four storey flats. The total planning application is now for 260 dwellings. Also sixty-four trees will now be felled instead of sixty-seven.
Theresa said, “L&Q have removed one block of flats in the hope that doing so will satisfy local residents’ concerns, but have reallocated them to elsewhere in the development. This just doesn’t address residents’ concerns about the development. The revised plans are still unacceptable. For example, questions about the lack of parking, pressure on local facilities and impact on the environment remain unanswered.”“I am absolutely convinced that the proposed development is completely out of character with the surrounding area. It is simply too high, too dense and involves too many flats. I urge all concerned residents to again make their views know to Enfield Council by 23rd December.”
East Barnet Councillor, Robert Rams, said, “L&Q have not listened to the community and seem to be ploughing on with their madness. These changes will not ease the pain for my residents in East Barnet who will see a huge increase in traffic on their roads, cars parked on their streets and tower blocks in their back gardens. We need more family housing on this development, not tower blocks.”
Residents have until 23rd December 2011 to send their objections to Enfield Council. A final decision is expected to be made in late January/early February.
