The new website is just one of many measures the Conservative-led Coalition is taking to fight crime and give police more time on the streets. It has announced plans to scrap targets and slash bureaucracy, saving up to 800,000 hours of police time and allowing the police to focus on cutting crime.
Theresa said, “The information and level of detail available on the website will enable residents across my constituency to see exactly what crimes are being committed in their area and to challenge the local police about how they are being dealt with.”
“Under Labour, the police were drowned by bureaucracy, instead of being on the streets fighting crime. This Government has clearly demonstrated its seriousness about cutting crime and anti-social behaviour. It has also proved its commitment to putting power back in hands of local communities. Residents will now have greater information about crime in their area and be able to hold their police force to account on their effectiveness."
