The money will cover the costs of security previously picked up by parents and the Community Security Trust, which helps protect Jewish communities and synagogues, estimated to be in the region of £1.6 million pounds a year.
The schools are set to receive £650,000 of funding straight away and up to £2 million pounds a year in total. The money will be administered by the Community Security Trust, who will allocate funds according to need.
Theresa said, “This is excellent news for all state-funded Jewish Schools."
“Local Jewish schools, such as JCoSS, make a great contribution to our community and the funding promised by Michael Gove will help provide pupils with a safe and secure learning environment."
“At the last General Election, the Conservatives pledged £2 million of security funding for Jewish Schools and I am delighted that Michael Gove has been able to deliver on his promise.”
