Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has welcomed the merger of the management of Barnet and Chase Farm (BCF) Hospitals NHS Trust and the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust which takes place today.
In a letter to stakeholders, David Sloman, Chief Executive of the Royal Free, sets out the NHS's plans to make significant investments at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital to improve facilities and aid clinicians in delivering high quality modern healthcare.
Ms Villiers said: “Throughout discussion of a possible merger of the Royal Free Foundation Trust with our local hospital, I have sought assurances that services at Barnet and Chase Farm will not be negatively affected by the transition."
"Repeatedly I have received those positive assurances. I have also urged the new management to do all they can to seek to ensure a smooth hand-over. I will monitor the transition closely.”
"Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital Trust faces many challenges, such as dealing with increasing numbers of people coming to A&E. The Royal Free is a centre of excellence with many highly impressive specialist clinicians. I believe that this link-up means that my constituents will get greater access to that expertise. I will continue to press the new merged management of the two hospital trusts to ensure my constituents get the best possible care."
