Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, called in at Barnet Market to support Saturday's event organised by the Friends of Barnet Market. Chris and Diane Nightingale. As well as a range of extra stalls, there was live music and an exhibition of classic cars owned by local residents.
Speaking after the event, Theresa said: "Barnet Market is going from strength to strength. I campaigned for many years to get the market's home site in St Albans Road improved. Ever since the market's owners, William Pears, provided a much needed upgrade to its facilities, the market has become more and more successful."
"Barnet market has always had the potential to become a magnet for shoppers and play a key role in revitalising the high street. Now it is starting to do just that."
"Friends of Barnet Market did a great job in campaigning to safeguard the market's future and I pay tribute to the work they are now doing to promote it."
"People like Chris Smith and Chris and Diane Nightingale are all working really hard for the market and our local high street. Today's event with its vintage cars and music was a great success. I am sure it will have been really effective in promoting the market and bringing people out to shop here and in the high street."
