As general election campaigning steps up, Theresa Villiers, Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Chipping Barnet, has reiterated her long-standing support for the Jewish community and Israel.
Speaking from the campaign trail in Brunswick Park in Barnet today, Theresa said “Throughout my time in elected office, I have always spoken up for the Jewish community and for Israel. I pledge to maintain that record of support if I am re-elected as MP for Chipping Barnet.”
“I have repeatedly used Parliament as a forum to denounce antisemitism. I co-authored a landmark report on this issue for the APPG Against Antisemitism in 2006. And I was there to show solidarity at those Parliament Square rallies back in 2019. No one should ever be intimidated or attacked for their faith or ethnicity and if I am re-elected on 4th July I will continue to campaign strongly against anti-Jewish racism.”
“In the months since 7th October I have stepped up my long-standing support for the State of Israel and its right to defend itself. Again and again in Parliament I have called on the UK Government stand firm in its support for Israel. I have repeatedly raised the plight of the hostages with Ministers. I visited Israel in January to hear directly from people impacted by the 7th October atrocity including relatives of hostages and people who saved lives on 7th October and rescued people from the terror attack.”
