Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, visited the Royal Mail sorting office in Longmore Avenue in her constituency this morning. She was shown around by Delivery Manager, Michael Osborne, who explained the efforts being made to handle the rush of parcels in the run up to Christmas. Following the visit, Theresa said:
"It was great to chat to the postal workers who do such a great job making sure my constituents get their Christmas shopping and cards delivered on time."
"This time of the year is always very hard work for Royal Mail and I was here at the Longmore Avenue sorting office this morning to show my support for the postmen and women in Barnet as they tackle the big workload in the days leading up to Christmas."
"I was briefed today on how the work of Royal Mail at this time of year is changing with fewer Christmas cards and many more parcels as people switch to on-line shopping."
"The visit was a great opportunity to thank postal workers for all their efforts. They are such an important part of a successful Christmas season."
