Chipping Barnet MP, Theresa Villiers, joined residents and traders in East Barnet yesterday for their annual Christmas Fair.
Braving the cold conditions over the weekend, Theresa was at the fair with local Conservative campaigners Felix Byers, Pavan Pavanakumar and Cllr Anne-Marie Pearce. Anne-Marie and her husband Barry Swain were part of the team which organised the fair.
Festive activities took place in several venues in East Barnet Village including East Barnet Methodist Church, East Barnet Baptist Church, and the Prince of Wales pub. This year’s fair was the biggest to date, with many local businesses getting involved.
Theresa met a number of different groups, businesses and charities, including Friend In Need (FIN), East Barnet Royal British Legion, Marie's Shoes, Ludo's Cafe, Pillowcake House bakers, North London Balloons, Oak Hill Park pitch and putt golf, Paula McGhie’s florist shop, the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT), the Cancer Research UK Big Choir and Bloodwise.
Theresa said “East Barnet’s Community Christmas fair is always a great event and it was good to see the local community come together to get into the festive spirit. I really enjoyed meeting so many friends and constituents from around East Barnet and supporting local businesses. The team who put on this event, including Marie from Marie’s Shoes and Anne-Marie Pearce, have done a fantastic job in organising East Barnet’s biggest and best ever Christmas fair.”
The fair is the latest in a series of Christmas events which Theresa Villiers has been supporting in her Chipping Barnet constituency during the advent period. On Thursday 7th December, she visited the Christmas tree set up in the High Road in Whetstone to listen to carol singing by children from St John’s CE Primary School. This year’s Whetstone Christmas tree was once again provided by Love Whetstone and local businesses.
