Following the publication of the New Year's Honours list, Theresa Villiers has congratulated all those receiving honours, including some well known local Barnet figures.
Theresa said: "I was delighted to see local people receive formal recognition of their work for our community. There were four awards which particularly stood out for me.
It is great that Barrie Martin, Chairman of Governors of Queen Elizabeth's Boy's School has received an MBE. Barrie has done wonderful work for the school for many years and his honour is well deserved. This is also another mark of recognition for QE Boys School which continues to have some of the most impressive results in the country.
I was also delighted to see that Totteridge resident, Shelley Gilbert received an honour. Shelley's tireless enthusiasm for her Grief Encounter charity has been outstanding. Shelley founded Grief Encounter to help children cope with bereavement and it provides tremendous support to kids coping with tragedy.
I was also impressed to hear of a further honour for Mill Hill resident, Marina Hobson, who has made such a generous contribution to so many good causes. An MBE for popular actor, Lynda Bellingham, is also excellent news.
They all have my warmest congratulations."
