Theresa Villiers MP has written to English Heritage in a bid to protect Trent Park’s historic house. Ms Villiers has urged English Heritage to put the building on the ‘heritage at risk’ register.
She is backing the campaign to save Trent Park’s heritage, along with ward councillor, Jason Charalambous, David Burrowes MP, and local groups such as the Friends of Trent Country Park.
Theresa said “I am enthusiastically supporting the campaign to save Trent Park. The Grade II listed mansion in Trent Park is at risk. The owners are in liquidation and the future of the site is uncertain. I want to see this historic building properly conserved and kept as an asset for the whole community to enjoy.”
“I believe that English Heritage should step in to protect the house and become part of the grass roots local campaign to save Trent Park.”
“I have worked with local residents before to protect Trent Park. Some years ago we successfully defeated an inappropriate building proposal put forward by Middlesex University. I will continue to work to protect the park and its historic buildings.”
Trent Park lies just outside Ms Villiers’ Chipping Barnet constituency but many of her constituents visit the park regularly. For more information on the campaign, visit http://savetrentpark.org.uk/ .
