To celebrate the launch of the new-look Wellhouse Post Office, Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP ‘cut the ribbon’ at an opening ceremony at 3pm today (Friday 25 July 2014).
Theresa Villiers MP said: "I welcomed the news that Wellhouse Post Office was to be modernised and am delighted to be here today to formally open the revamped branch, which looks great!
She added: "The Post Office is vital to the community around Barnet and I'm sure the new improved office, and the longer opening hours and Sunday opening, will be warmly welcomed by local residents."
Post Office services will be available during the McColls Retail Group store’s opening hours, 6am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday and 7am to 1pm on Sundays, so customers can visit when it is most convenient.
Customers can access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals, and services are provided at a combination counter in the store, where the Post Office terminal sits alongside the till.
Dave Thomas, Operations Director, McColl’s Retail Group PLC said: “As a community retailer we are delighted to offer Post Office services in our convenience store; local residents will now be able to access a wide range of Post Office services during our shop opening hours - 59 hours a week more than previously offered.
“I’m looking forward to introducing my existing customers to the new service, and welcoming new people to the store. I’m confident they will be pleased with the flexibility and convenience of the new Post Office service.”
