Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet is urging her constituents to take part in the Government’s Review of Business Rates. The consultation closes on Friday 12th June.
Explaining why it is important for people in Barnet to take part and make their voice heard on this issue, Theresa Villiers said: “Business Rates are an important issue for our local high streets. I know how much my constituents value their local high streets and the part they play in the life of the community. Our high streets have been under pressure from intense competition from on-line and out-of-town retail. They need all the help they can get.”
“With the Government considering the options for reforming Business Rates, this is our chance to support local high streets by making the case for support for small independent retailers and high street traders. This is a very important consultation. People who care about keeping vibrant and successful high streets can make a difference by taking part in this review.”
“So I would encourage people to read the document published by the Treasury and send in their comments. The deadline is the end of the week so time is now short.”
Theresa will be sending in her response later in the week. The consultation document can be downloaded from:
