Chipping Barnet MP Theresa Villiers has helped open the new Ashmole Primary School building in Summit Way in Southgate in her constituency. She joined Education Minister, Viscount Younger of Leckie, last Wednesday as he cut the ribbon to officially open a brand new building for this recently established school.
“It was a real pleasure to return to this very impressive primary school. Just three years ago, I formally opened the temporary buildings in which they started taking their first pupils,” said Theresa.
“The Conservative free schools programme has delivered this great local school with top class facilities for pupils and I congratulate everyone who has been involved.
“It was a real pleasure to be shown around by the head teacher Chris Tofallis and chair of governers, Gonul Daniels. I was hugely impressed with the building and the facilities. This kind of state-of-the-art learning environment will help give children the best educational opportunities.
“I am campaigning for more funding for all of Barnet’s excellent schools in the forthcoming Government spending review. School funding is at its highest ever level but schools in Barnet are facing real difficulties because of rising costs. So I am fighting their corner.”
