East Barnet Health Centre has now reopened for patients. Following the completion of the health centre’s £1m upgrade by the NHS, the GPs were given the keys to the building in early October. Doctors began seeing patients on October 19th, meaning that the centre is, once again, fully open for business.
Local MP Theresa Villiers welcomed the announcement, saying "It is great news that East Barnet Health Centre has finally reopened.”
“Along with local residents, I had been campaigning for many months for this to happen. I want to pay tribute to all the local residents who worked so hard to ensure the refurbishment went ahead and the health centre was saved.”
“I am delighted that the reopening was not held up by the kind of protracted legal wrangle that saw a brand new Brunswick Park Health Centre stay closed for months. I was in touch with both NHSPS and the GPs over the summer urging them to find a compromise which prevented this. It will be a big relief for patients that the GP surgery has left the inconvenient temporary facilities in Vale Drive to return to East Barnet Health Centre. Patients now have much better facilities there because of the £1m refurbishment which has taken place.”
